A route, not a plan

Atlhough things fell through at the last minute late last year, Abby and I promised each other we'd have a do-over early this year.

It's now time for us to strike out and head west, all over again.

With spring springing and regularity returning (ish), this April version will be different from the September version. Still an RV adventure but shorter. One week fully focused on Utah's canyons instead of two overly amibitious weeks that included the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone. Its name alone promises Old Faithful will wait for us a little longer.

The southwestern desert landscape will be new terrain for us both. In some ways, the timing of this trip may prove to be a clearer reflection of where Dad & Daughter are in life:

Abby's on the other side of college apps & essays, with her sights set on the horizon.

I've got a new job & employer, with my own sights set on the horizon.

The open road is calling to us both.

This time around we have a general idea of where we're headed without trying to overplan daily agendas. Fewer days in total but more permission to explore side roads just because.

A fellow traveler calls it, "A route but not a plan."

Let the GPS Lady say, "Re-routing."

We'll reply, "No problem."

That's the plan.
